Slideshow problems…

March 18, 2009

More problems have occured. I am unable to produce in Flash due to the fact that I did not listen and take sufficent notes during the workshop on the 10th March.

I have had to hand in my site without a slideshow which is hugely disappointing.

In future I will try to improve my skills by listening…

Update: Convergent Media Practice

February 24, 2009

I have just realised I haven’t made many posts recently on this blog, so I decided it was a perfect time to make a new entry.

The most notable things that have been mentioned in these lectures have revolved around the Internet. We first learnt about Michael Wesch and his interpretation of the History Of The Internet. We also touched on Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web (WWW)

We then looked into Surveillance on the Internet, highlighting social networking sites such as Facebook and Myspace, these sites offer profiles and online interaction but also are in turn able to find out your personal details, dependent on how much information you give them.

I also published my slideshow of images incorporating statistics about everyday life, I decided to choose alcohol related statistics. I edited my photographs in Photoshop and found this fairly easy as I have some previous experience in this program.

My slideshow received agreeable feedback from Mez, although there were not many images, I believe I did well for the first task.

The dreamweaver task I found a little more difficult, mainly due to my inexperience with the program. I was able to link pages to pages and add text, hyperlinks and colour cascades although I was unable to add some div tags. I am awaiting feedback from Nick on my dreamweaver project but I do believe I could do better.

26/1/2009 – statistics

January 26, 2009

Hello once again. I decided to look at the average alcohol consumption per capita to see where the UK ended up, I was pleasantly surprised. Considering the UK is portrayed as booze-fueled war zone in the various media.

Well, did it work?

Well, did it work? (That's in litres)

More images to come. I hope.

Looked at lectures by Stefan Sagmeister about how design can make a person happy.

Also looked at a lecture which looked at what picture of other countries people have by Hans Rosling.
